Burn

Come to me,

dear friend,

and let us walk together

through this winding desert.

How beautiful that our paths cross here tonight,

while starstruck by galaxies of colour -

by galaxies of light -

and with burning questions on my mind.

Does the rhino worry about faraway lands,

when the splendour of its kingdom is plain to see?

Then why let tomorrow’s troubles weigh you down?

Laugh with me,

and open your heart to the elation that longs to greet you.

Laugh until you can let go of the pressures of society,

and blur the lines between reality and your dreams.

Your smile deserves to be seen.

Your joy deserves to be heard.

Does the fairy forget how to fly,

though it weaves magic with its wings?

Then why would you hide from your true nature?

Dance with me,

and let us play like the children we once were.

Dance until you rediscover your innocence,

and remove the mask that the world told you to don.

Here we can stop pretending.

Here we can simply be.

Does the scarab fear the setting sun,

when it knows the glory of a new day awaits?

Then why would you shy away from your pain?

Cry with me,

and embrace the fullness of your being.

Cry until you can cup your stars in your hands,

and toss them to the heavens with abandon.

Know that they shall not fade.

Know that you are held.

Does the unicorn doubt its majesty,

though it inspires awe and imagination?

Then why would you dim your own light?

Run with me,

and find courage under the night sky.

Run until you shamelessly shed the shackles of your identity,

and celebrate your own becoming.

This is the naked you,

and oh what a beautiful you to behold.
