The greatest day

Today I lived the greatest day.

Inhaling a dawn bristling boundless promise

I simply sensed this gift -

this very first day

of my remaining days -

uniquely wrapped

in the exact same limitless potential

of any other day.

And so,

you may ask,

what is it that I did today

on this greatest of days?

Oh how I hiked to Himalayan heights!

I knelt before kings with their snow-clad cloaks

and danced beneath queens with their icy crowns.

I soaked my soul in the aura of those giants

for moment, upon moment,

until it lay drenched in humility eternal.

I let my joy wander with wild abandon

to the farthest fibres of my being,

and witnessed my spirit soaring on eagle wings.

I found belonging in the sheer delight of being alive.

Of being free.

Of just being.

I gave fully, until I could give nothing more than

a last offering of laughter to the wind -

surrendering through sacred gates of presence

into a temple of ecstatic prayer.

And as my heart gushed gratitude,

I said thank you

a thousand

times

over

for this greatest of days

that never was before

and never will be again.
